Prophétesse is a photography, video art, and found artifacts exhibition that blends documentary investigation and gossip. The project began when an anonymous friend of Océane Buxton noticed her physical resemblance to Modeste Niquette, a polarizing local figure from Thetford Mines whom he had known in the past. Modeste claimed to have recurring encounters with extraterrestrial forces, which she documented through photography. She distributed her pictures among residents and delivered prophecies that provoked strong reactions. The woman was later reported missing under troubling circumstances but received little attention from the media. Her unexplained disappearance has fuelled a mythical status in the folklore of her hometown. Deeply moved by this story, Océane Buxton, in collaboration with the anonymous witness, sets out to reconstruct the portrait of this ghostly figure.
